The summary about SANA
Ms.ShiXiaoWei, General Director of the Dept. for Registration Certification and Accreditation – Administration of the People’s Republic of China, Ms. TanPing from Bioagricert China and specific Chinese organic dealers and producers were invited by ICE, Italy Trade Committee, Sana, Organic exhibition organizing committee, and Italy BIOAGRICERT, to attend at the 18th SANA organic food exhibition organized in Bologna, Italy on Sep 7th – 10th 2006 the Conference: organic products market opportunities in China. Italy's trip has been completed successfully, and has achieved tremendous success.
Below it will be given a brief introduction and summary of SANA organic exhibition and of the conference: Organic products market opportunity in China.

I. Since 1989, the scale of SANA organic exhibition has increased, being one of specific exhibitions on world famous international health and health care, whose specialization degree in the same international exhibition is second to none. More than 1500 participants from 49 countries flocked together to attend the exhibition, attracting special purchasers from all over the world and bringing innovative outcome, technology and advanced ideas of the forefront of health; it was a great opportunity for promoting products in health and health care, expanding international influences and understanding trends in the world related to the development of new products. The communication and cooperation in international domain was reinforced by a series of special events organized during the exhibition. SANA Exhibition was the 18th session in 2006 occupying 85000㎡ with more than 15000 exhibitors, among which more than 400 exhibitors were from outside Italy.
II. The characteristic of 18th SANA organic exhibition in 2006:
a) Most exhibitors are from European corporations, the Asian exhibitors are not easily found. Italy, with local exhibitors covers 73% of the entire exhibitors.
b) Organic finished food and health care product were the primary products; raw materials products such as organic foodstuff are a little, different from BioFach exhibition with lots of organic foodstuff. It is a good chance for organic foodstuff exporter in China. There is no competitor here, on the contrary, many foodstuff corporations demand raw materials.
c) The focus is on nutrition, safety, and health. Herbal products and sources of natural herbal cosmetics, nutritional supplements and health products have increased as it was shown by the number of exhibitors of such products.
d) The idea of organic is also extending and expanding. During exhibits, personal protective products and equipment, health therapy, massage, psychological, physiological and quality of life products, organic building products were everywhere.
e) During the exhibition, the seminars, workshops, work groups, and roundtables aimed at promoting global ecological agriculture and organic food development, protecting human health and ecological environment.
III. BIOAGRICERT is one of Italy organic domain members, found in 1984, dividing into BioagriCert and Bioagricoop; individually dealing with agriculture certification and organic agriculture promotion and training, responsible for EU projects. On behalf of Italy Trade Committee ICE and SANA Organizing Committee, in the year of 2006, BIOAGRICERT undertook Chinese Organic Product Market Opportunity Meeting. The meeting was organized in Service Center Block B on September 8, 5.00p.m. – 7.00p.m. The content of the meeting attracts dramatically exhibitors from European business circles and organic food processing. The conference room, accommodating 50 people, was overcrowded. Mr. Riccardo Cozzo, President of Bioagricoop passionately delivered for the "Silk Road of the 21st Century" speech, analyzing the development prospect between Europe and Asia, Italy and China in 21st century from the angle of history, culture, economic, politics, organic agriculture status, future market in European and Asian sea. Ms.ShiXiaoWei, General Director of the Dept. for Registration Certification and Accreditation – Administration of the People’s Republic of China, also delivered wonderful speech where after. Director Ms.ShiXiaoWei, introduced the present organic statue, regulation, and organic standard and perfect organic management system; she talked about organic standard in China and the good wish for mutual recognize with the world, which increase the confidence of participating in the meeting. Ms. TanPing, talked about the experience of Bioagricert in China and specific Chinese organic dealers and producers individually introduced the development experience of BAC and retail experience on organic products, green food, and EU characteristic products in China. The two-hour meeting had repeatedly won warm applause. After meeting, many European manufacturers inquired the speakers about organic certification and production and sales of its own similar products in China, the Chinese concept of production and consumption, and the Chinese government on issues such as the management of food. Speakers answered all questions raised by askers, and the atmosphere was very warm. The meeting received very good results.
IV. During this SANA exhibition, Chinese market opportunities for organic products received very good results; the participants increased their understanding of China and promoted the development of Sino-EU trade and organic products on the mutual recognition of far-reaching significance.
a) Increase the understanding for organic standard and organic management system in China from EU organic manufacturers and consumers, enhanced the trust for organic products produced in China and enabled them to realize that the organic products produced and certified in China are true and reliable.
b) Many of the current European agricultural producers and food processors consider that China has a lot of cheap labor and that China is a tremendous competitor. They understood that China is the largest consumer of the organic market and that in the future China won’t be not only a competitor, but also a partner and the two sides have huge areas of cooperation.
c) Although China exports large quantity of organic products, most of the products are Organic Grains. In the domestic market are almost no high-end organic foods. Most of organic products are Organic foodstuff and organic fruit and vegetable. This means a lower level of overall industry. Enhance the confidence of European organic manufacture to develop market in China through the understanding about Chinese organic management system and Chinese high-grade organic food market. It had a tremendous role in promoting the development of China's organic food industry whether imports of organic food or investment.
d) It played a positive role in mutual recognition for organic products between areas and the development of trade through mutual understanding.
